Law firm expands clinical negligence team

31st May 2007

A leading south Wales law firm has recruited a legal high flier to join its busy clinical negligence department.

Leo Abse & Cohen has appointed leading clinical negligence specialist Spencer Collier, allowing the firm to provide clinical negligence services at each of its three offices across the region

Spencer, 38 from Bridgend, joins Leo Abse & Cohen following a decade of medical negligence experience working at Swansea based John Collins & Partners. Commended in the Legal 500, Spencer has worked on several high profile cases since his qualification in 1993, and is well-known for his expertise in handling fatal negligence cases.

Currently based in the firm's Cardiff office, Spencer will join the Leo Abse & Cohen clinical negligence team - led by partner Yvonne Agnew - in working on all types of medical accident claims, including fatal obstetric and orthopedic cases.

Spencer said: "Leo Abse & Cohen is a well respected firm, and is particularly well known for its clinical negligence offering. Yvonne and the entire department have an excellent reputation and I am looking forward to working alongside them."

Yvonne Agnew, Head of Clinical Negligence, said: "We are delighted to have secured the services of a solicitor who is as highly regarded as Spencer. His appointment will bolster the department at a time when we are experiencing an increase in clinical negligence cases from clients across the region."

Leo Abse & Cohen employs 140 members of staff, including 13 partners, at its offices in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea and offers legal advice to a broad range of private clients, companies and institutions.
