Mike is a committed Trade Unionist. He was born and brought up in the South Wales Valleys and his father was a life long activist in the NUM (National Union of Mineworkers).
Having been active himself within the NUS whilst a student at Leeds University, Mike joined Unite (T&G Section) in the early 90's. He is a Unite Branch Secretary and is Chair of the Cardiff District Committee of Unite and the ACTS Trade Group Committee. He sits on the Regional Committee and the Finance and General Purposes Committee.
Mike represents Unite on the Welsh Labour Policy Forum Committee and the Policy Development Group of the Welsh Executive Committee Development Board where he vigorously pursues Unites policy objectives.
Mike works exclusively on behalf of Trade Unions and carries out all aspects of Personal Injury claims for Union members throughout the UK. He has won justice for thousands of people.
He has been a solicitor since 1990. He is an Equity Partner and manages the Newport office of Leo Abse & Cohen.
