There are occasions when a member of the public may attend their GP or local hospital suffering from a mental illness and it may be that the person is at risk of harming themselves or others. In such situations it is important that the correct steps are taken swiftly.
Unfortunately there are instances when symptoms of mental illness are not recognised or acted upon quickly enough and consequently a person may indeed cause harm to themselves or others.
